Horse and Rider Treatment Package

You’ve had the saddler out, the equine therapist has treated your horse and you have seen a therapist yourself, but something still isn’t right…

That’s because everything is connected!  We follow the osteopathic principle that everything is interconnected and therefore should be assessed as a whole.  Having different professionals assess different areas at different times, and treating with different approaches means that you and your horse are not treated as the team that you are.

Your own muscle imbalances and joint restrictions caused by work posture, hobbies or previous injuries can greatly affect your riding.  The more the imbalance occurs, the stronger it becomes.  This leads to poor coordination of movement and malfunctioning movement patterns.  A common imbalance, caused by long hours working at a desk, is a shortening of the hip flexors which block the movement of the pelvis and the lower back.  This will prevent you moving smoothly with the horse.  Additionally imbalances between left and right will massively affect the balance of your horse, causing them to compensate.  As well as treating the areas of compensation, you will get your very own unique program of exercises to help you strengthen and regain healthy movement patterns.

Equine Osteopathy isn’t just for the elite competition horse and rider, making sure that you and your equine partner are working together, in balance and comfort, can prevent injuries and unwanted behaviours from developing.  This is important because an imbalance in one of you will have an effect on the other.
